Why Skynet

• Real work, on your Mac

  Agents that read and write your files, run your tools, work in Mail, Calendar and Finder, and keep going on a schedule — on the laptop you already work on, not in a chat tab in a browser.

• No lock-in to one AI

  Claude, ChatGPT's codex, or other providers and local models through pi — chosen per agent, changed any time. An agent is a folder of plain text, so it comes with you when a better model does.

• Your files stay yours

  Every agent is a folder on your Mac — its instructions, its memory and everything it makes, as plain files you can read, edit and put in git. No Skynet account and no Skynet server: only the AI you picked sees what a task needs.

• The plans you already pay for

  Runs on your Claude and ChatGPT subscriptions rather than pay-per-token API billing, so heavy daily use costs a flat monthly price. Several Claude subscriptions pool: when one runs low, the next turn uses another.

What it does

• Works on a schedule

  Give an agent a job and a time — a morning briefing, a weekly review, a check on something you care about — and it runs by itself. You come back to what it found.

• Works through a goal

  Autopilot gives an agent a goal and a list of tasks to work through while you are away. Nothing is called done until a fresh check has confirmed it, and anything that needs your say waits for you.

• From your phone

  Talk to any of your agents from Telegram. Answers stream back as they are written, questions come as buttons, and files arrive as files — while the work runs on your Mac.

• Uses your Mac

  Agents can work with Mail, Calendar, Notes, Reminders and Finder. Drop any file into a chat, and a page an agent makes opens in its own window, ready to read.

• Remembers

  Each agent keeps its own memory, so what it learned last week is there next week — whichever AI model is doing the work.

• Tells you when it matters

  A notification when a scheduled job finishes, a task needs you, or an agent has a question. Everything else stays quiet.

• Finds anything

  Search what was said in every chat with every agent, and keep the numbers you check daily on a dashboard of your own.

Getting it running

Open Skynet.dmg, drag Skynet onto Applications, and open it. It is signed and notarized by Apple, and it keeps itself up to date.

The first time it opens, Skynet shows its Setup screen: a checklist of what this Mac needs — the AI tools and their logins, the permissions agents use, a few helper tools — each marked ready, worth fixing or needed. Fix beside a line takes you to the right place in System Settings, or opens Terminal with the install or login already running, so you see everything that is installed. A Mac with no agents yet gets a starter assistant to talk to.

Setup stays in Settings (⌘,) — go back any time to check the Mac or update the tools. You bring your own AI — a Claude subscription, a ChatGPT plan, or a key for any provider pi supports. Skynet itself never asks for a key.
